Writing with Browsers

Over the past few weeks Jonathon and I have had a conversation about the writing interface for Weblogs and a more general discussion about writing and collaboration on the Web. After Tim Bray, even Clay Shirkey has now weighed in with his frustrations. It will be fun to watch this unfold over the coming year. These are issues where we are simply not well served and no doubt some solutions will come forward. I'm not sure what the difference between writing and authoring is in this context, the lines are blurred. But it will be fun to keep an eye out for how things will develop, and I don't think the innovation will come from Microsoft or Macromedia.
